Um\u00a0fungo<\/a>\u00a0da esp\u00e9cie rara\u00a0Cordyceps caloceroides<\/em>\u00a0foi registrado pela primeira vez em uma expedi\u00e7\u00e3o na Amaz\u00f4nia ap\u00f3s parasitar uma tar\u00e2ntula gigante. O achado \u00e9 de pesquisadores da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), da Universidade de Copenhague (UCPH) e do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amaz\u00f4nia (Inpa).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O aracn\u00eddeo parasitado pelo fungo foi encontrado em janeiro por Lara Fritzsche, estudante de Ci\u00eancias Ambientais da UCPH, durante trabalho de campo de especialistas do Brasil e da Dinamarca na Reserva Ducke<\/strong>, pr\u00f3xima a Manaus. A atividade foi organizada pelo brasileiro Jo\u00e3o Ara\u00fajo, bi\u00f3logo e professor da UCPH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fungos do g\u00eanero Cordyceps<\/em> infectam insetos e artr\u00f3podes e passam a controlar seu sistema nervoso, tornando-os \u201czumbis\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esses organismos ficaram mais conhecidos atrav\u00e9s da premissa da s\u00e9rie e do videogame The Last of Us<\/em>: os personagens tentam sobreviver em um mundo p\u00f3s-apocal\u00edptico devastado por um fungo que parasita humanos, tornando-os agressivos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ainda que fungos desse tipo sejam encontrados em outros biomas brasileiros, o esp\u00e9cime identificado na Amaz\u00f4nia ganha import\u00e2ncia pelas condi\u00e7\u00f5es ambientais e rela\u00e7\u00f5es espec\u00edficas (no caso, com a tar\u00e2ntula Theraphosa blondii<\/em>) que estabelece com as esp\u00e9cies parasitadas – mais raras entre aracn\u00eddeos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O achado foi divulgado nas redes sociais por Elisandro Ricardo Drechsler-Santos, professor do Programa de P\u00f3s-Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Biologia de Fungos, Algas e Plantas da UFSC e coordenador do grupo de pesquisa MIND.Funga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fungos do g\u00eanero\u00a0Cordyceps<\/em>\u00a0se propagam por meio de esporos (produzidos nas pontas da estrutura alaranjada do fungo nas imagens) que infectam os hospedeiros. Mas, no caso dos aracn\u00eddeos, ainda h\u00e1 perguntas n\u00e3o respondidas pela ci\u00eancia sobre como a infec\u00e7\u00e3o acontece, se os esporos caem sobre o corpo das aranhas, se elas contaminam pelo solo ou outras superf\u00edcies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
